Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Rotary Club of Maidstone Riverside are planning to raise as much money as we can for Demelza by running a Swim Relay!!!

My swimmers, Ryan, Daniel, Boyd, Phoebe, Mollie and Hayden will swim up and down the main pool of Maidstone Leisure Centre raising sponsorship money for Demelza and AMMF (Cholangiocarcinoma - Bile Duct Cancer).

Polly was the children's swimming teacher many years ago and when Polly moved to Wales we stayed in touch.

In 2023, Polly was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile duct Cancer).

Polly has always been an inspiration, never loses her zest for life and through all that she has had to endure this year, she has got another swim team together to participate in the charity Swim Relay 2024.

Ryan, 12 is proud to be joining his brother Daniel, 13 who has been part of Polly's charity swim team previously to take on the challenge on March 17th 2024 in Maidstone, Kent, in the team with Boyd, Hayden, Phoebe and Mollie.

Polly's swim team will be raising funds for 2 charities this year; AMMF and Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

The team will have 30 minutes of swim time in a single lane and we are looking to complete in excess of 1600m swim in that time. Speed will be their focus on the day and lots of training will be their focus for the next few weeks!

About the chosen charities;

AMMF

AMMF was founded in 2002, world's first charity dedicated solely to Cholangiocarcinoma. To date AMMF remains UK's only Cholangiocarcinoma charity working nationally, across Europe as well as actively collaborating globally. AMMF provides information and support to those affected and campaigns to raise awareness of this devastating disease. AMMF encourages and supports specialised research teams in their work towards better diagnostic techniques, treatments and ultimately a cure.

Demelza

Demelza delivers extraordinary care to extraordinary children who are facing serious or life-limiting , throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex. We’re here for them and their families with expert clinical, emotional and practical support at every step – from first diagnosis and for as long as we’re needed.

All the children would appreciate your support in their fundraising efforts to support these charities close to their hearts.
