Mayflower Trail Challenge 2024, 22 September 2024
Following the unexpected closure earlier this year, we need your help to preserve our history and ensure a vibrant future for the Electric Palace Harwich. For 114 years, this cinema has been a cherished part of our community. We need your support!

Story

I joined Harwich Electric Palace Trust as a trustee at the start of 2024.

In May, having only been a trustee for a few months, we faced a significant issue... our projector broke down! The equipment is well-used and getting older; it took over three weeks to diagnose the problem and source replacement parts. It was an anxious time to say the least... a cinema without a projector isn't really a cinema!

The trustees and staff took stock of the situation and knew we needed to take action. As such, the #OurElectricPalace appeal was launched! The appeal aims to raise funds to upgrade equipment, expand the cinema’s events offerings and improve facilities within the building.

By taking part in the 13.1 mile Mayflower Trail, I'll be helping to raise funds for the #OurElectricPalace appeal.

The Electric Palace Cinema is a vibrant cultural hub at the heart of the community. It's been serving the community since 1911 and we intend to ensure it continues for many, many years to come!
