The Great Tommy Sleepout 2024 · 1 March 2024 to 31 March 2024 ·

It's cold, it's dark, it's wet. Can you last the night? During the month of March, we are challenging you to join The Great Tommy Sleep Out. Sleep outside for one night to fund raise for RBLI and raise awareness for homeless ex-servicemen and women.

Story

The Great Tommy Sleepout

I am swapping my bed for a sleeping bag to raise vital funds and awareness for over 6000 veterans that are experiencing homeless in the UK right now.

With every penny raised, Royal British Legion Industries can provide safe, warm housing and ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to gain employment, regardless of health conditions or disability.

This challenge doesn't replicate the conditions our nations hero's have to face, but it does give you an idea of the situation they find themselves in far too often.

RBLI have recently seen a 45% increase in the demand for their services, this is just over the past year. The cost of living crisis is having such a massive impact, and young, single, male veterans in particular are struggling to access social housing and many find themselves on the streets. Once on the streets it can be impossible to secure employment, due to no fixed address, plunging them in to further financial troubles and serious mental health struggles.

This is being done in conjuction with the regulars at the Cherry Tree pub at High Hoyland. Please help us to raise much needed funds for this incredible cause.
