On Sunday 23rd June, Wandering Crows will be playing a charity football match against Dementia United to raise money for Jayden's Journey. The Wandering Crows are a team of dads who play to raise money for unwell and disabled children across Essex and North East London. We are thrilled that they have chosen to play a match to support Jayden. The money raised will fund therapy and equipment not available on the NHS. Jayden's dad, Francis, will also be dusting off his football boots for the evening to join the team.

Jayden's Story
Jayden He was born full term on November 4th 2021 weighing 8lb7oz. After a wonderful, uncomplicated pregnancy, Jayden was delivered blue, floppy, and unable to breathe. At 18 minutes old he took his first breath but sadly due to the lack of oxygen to the brain the decision was made to transfer him to a specialist NICU where he would receive cooling treatment. Jayden’s body was cooled to 33 degrees for 72 hours before being warmed to try and slow down the process that causes brain damage.
During this time Jayden suffered multiple seizures. At 5 days old Jayden had an MRI scan which showed severe brain injury in nearly all structures of the brain. We were told he’d suffered grade 3 HIE. The consultant informed us that Jayden may not survive without intensive care, and they were unsure as to whether Jayden would be able to breathe independently. If he did survive, we were told he would be severely impaired, unable to feed, suck, swallow and will need continuous care. Jayden was placed on end of life care and his ventilator was removed at 8 days old surrounded by everyone that loved him.
But Jayden had other plans, and he continued to breathe independently. A few days later he began to feed orally and after one month he had his feeding tube removed. Jayden was discharged from hospital on December 3rd 2021.
Jayden has been diagnosed with Bilateral Spastic Cerebral Palsy, CVI (Cortical Visual Impairment), Developmental Delay, Epilepsy and Microcephaly. The limited availability of specialized therapy and equipment on the NHS means that Jayden needs additional support to reach his full potential. Some of these therapies include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, DMI, HBOT and conductive education.
Jayden has already surpassed all of our expectations and we know that with every extra therapy session that your fundraising provides; his physical and cognitive abilities improve and most importantly his quality of life.
