Walking for Walton - 50km to support Hull Hospitals’ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Lake District Ultra Challenge 2025 · 7 June 2025 to 8 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
On Christmas Day, I gave birth to our son, Walton. He fought to be with us as long as he could but died two days later. Born very prematurely, we were thrown into a world of machines and medicine. Supporting us every step of the way was the amazing team at Hull Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
As well as providing round-the-clock dedicated care for Walton, one of the smallest babies they had ever looked after, the team provided us with comfort and support during the most challenging moments of our lives. They took the time to help us bond with Walton, providing some of our most cherished memories with our baby. We are forever grateful for the care Walton received and the kindness shown to our family.
In Walton's memory, we are raising funds for Hull NICU to ensure that other families receive the same exceptional support and medical care. We are both taking part in the Lake District Ultra Challenge, walking 50km around Windermere and Ambleside on Saturday, 7 June.
Hull NICU looks after over 500 premature babies; some stay for hours or days, whilst others stay for weeks and months. Hull is one of four Level 3 NICUs within the Yorkshire and Humber region, supporting babies from 22 weeks gestation and offering specialist intensive treatment for babies locally and across the country.
Funds we raise will enhance the unit for the benefit of premature babies and their families by providing those important added extras above and beyond what the NHS can achieve alone. Together, we can help make a real difference to parents.
Thank you for your support,
