Story
I won’t pretend to know much about Dementia. But what I do know is that it seems like an extremely lonely place to be. My grandma has lived with it for several years now and definitely doesn’t know who I am anymore - despite my best efforts to remind her that I am her favourite grandchild.
What I find remarkable is that - despite her condition - my grandma will tap and sing along to hymns or songs that she recognises. It’s as if the music unlocks memories that could otherwise be lost. This is why I want to raise money for the remarkable Lost Chord UK. After all, the show must go on!
To raise money, I am taking on three challenges over the course of 2024! As a self proclaimed ‘fat man living in a skinny body’ I hope that I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew.
Challenge #1: Climbing Mount Kenya (all 5,199 metres of it);
Challenge #2: Completing the Three Peaks with my dad; and
Challenge #3: Running (and likely crawling) around the 67 mile Isle of Wight coastal path.
Thank you to those that are able to donate. For those that can’t, perhaps you can send me some song recommendations for my running / walking playlist!
