Story
Walk Bath started after I asked myself a few searching questions.
When you survey the world at large, what deeds need doing?
What would you do for free?
I have been walking the hills around our beautiful city of Bath since 2008 and it has been hugely beneficial for my mental and physical wellbeing.
When I’m out walking with my Spaniel Sid I forget everything that’s on my mind and just listen to the sounds of nature, while watching the boy enjoying the smells.
We have different, magical experiences every day while discovering new sights, sounds and smells that are all within walking distance from the city centre.
Bath is a city surrounded by breathtaking countryside, just a ten minute walk in any direction and you could be forgiven for thinking you were miles from civilisation.
So when I asked that first question it made me think of the millions of people suffering with anxiety and depression around the world. It reminded me that reliance on anti-depressant medication is at an all time high, and it’s still on an upward trend.
We are in the midst of a health crisis yet at the same time, people are existing longer… existing not thriving.I think it’s time to take personal responsibility for our physical and mental health, and I think walking in nature is the perfect place to start.
With your help we are going to reverse the current trend and help empower millions of people to realise that they matter.
Not only that, we are going to put an end to homelessness.Every walk raises money for Shelter and our ultimate vision is to raise £1 Million per year.
This way everyone wins. We all get fitter and healthier, both mentally and physically while helping those less fortunate to help themselves.
