I was lucky enough to travel to Bangladesh last summer to see Maa's pioneering efforts firsthand. Following JourneyMaa 2023, I returned home with experiences, and stories from mothers with difficult realities and young girls harbouring ambitious dreams. This inequality in healthcare and opportunity that I witnessed is not insurmountable; it is a changeable reality.

This is where Maa comes in.

MAA (Maternal Aid Association) is a student-founded, student-led grassroots charity striving to improve the dire situation in resource-poor settings to bring about safe, effective, high quality maternal healthcare.

The money raised provides crucial funding for Maa to continue running our clinics and natural birthing centre in rural areas of Bangladesh. We are also piloting our new healthcare app, MaaConnect, with our MedTech specialists in India. We have also started expanding our work internationally, beginning with Afghanistan - by helping Afghan mothers through The Widow Project (TWP). As well as our period poverty project in India where our Maa team have successfully provided reusable sanitary pads.
