Relay swim from England to Normandy
This year, the 28th October marks the 360th birthday of the Royal Marines Commandos. To celebrate this special birthday, we would love it if you would join us to raise £360 in your own special way - run, walk, cycle, bake - the choice is yours!

Story

We are a mixed female and male team whose ages range from 24 to 59, based between Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. For several years we have undertaken, with a few changes in the team, multiple endurance swims.

This will be our longest swim and marks the important occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the D Day landings in Normandy. We will be the first team to make this swim, 67 miles from Eastbourne to Dieppe as the crow flies. We will take a remembrance wreath with us and our final swimmer will finish our swim with it to shore in honour of the veterans who landed on the beaches.

Over 17,600 Marines were assigned to D-day. The Royal Marines were involved in many parts of the operation, on land, at sea, and in the air. Since that time, the Marines have continued to serve as a pivotal aspect of the UK Military involved in amphibious expeditions and noted for their bravery and endurance.

In particular memory of the Royal Marines who landed on the D Day beaches, we are raising money for their charity. The Royal Marines Charity exists to help the entire Royal Marines family, offering a range of services to both serving soldiers, veterans and their families to support their welfare.

Please support our chosen charity and honour the memory of the veterans and of those still working on our behalf.
