Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.

Vivace Voices is a Tilehurst-based choir for female voices. We enjoy singing a very eclectic range of music, and every term we perform a concert at which we raise money for charity.

This term our chosen charity is CLASP, a self-advocacy group supporting over 280 adults with learning disabilities in the Wokingham Borough. This small but mighty local charity supports its members to learn to self-advocate while providing a wide range of activities including craft, gardening, and singing.

We need your help to raise money for CLASP so they can continue their vital work supporting those in our community who often fly silently under the radar. Please consider donating whatever you can - every contribution makes a difference.

THANK YOU!

MEET ASHLEIGH

Ashleigh's story highlights the impact of CLASP. Ashleigh has faced challenges throughout her life due to her learning disability. Early on, she struggled with bullying but found joy when she moved to a school that understood her needs and supported her to nurture her love for singing by joining the school choir.

However, after leaving school, she became isolated and her mental health suffered. Fortunately, through the support of her social worker, she discovered CLASP. Initially nervous and shy during her first visits, she quickly found support and new friends within this welcoming community. Now filled with confidence, Ashleigh enjoys taking part in all the activities and also attends meetings with the council to talk about the experiences and needs of those who, like her, live with a learning disability. More than anything, Ashleigh loves to dance and sing and is currently rehearsing for an exciting role in the CLASP upcoming variety show.

Ashleigh wishes for everyone to treat individuals with learning disabilities as unique individuals deserving kindness and respect. She hopes to join us at the Vivace Voices concert and share her inspiring experiences.

We are a self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham borough. Self-advocacy is when you speak up for yourself about the things that are important to you. CLASP help people with learning disabilities to do this. We support each other to speak up for our rights and live more independently. CLASP stands for Caring, Listening And Supporting Partnership. How is CLASP helping people to speak up for themselves? As a user-led organisation – we are run by our members. We employ people with learning disabilities and offer voluntary opportunities. We support our members to have their say about how local services are developed. We have a training group called Listen To Us – who deliver learning disability awareness training. We run a campaigning group called Take Notice. We work in partnership with other organisations to run projects. We provide one to one support, information, advice and signposting.
