Story
On the 19th of July, my brother Will and his wife Imogen welcomed their twin boys, Zack and Cosmo, at King’s College Hospital. Born at 32 weeks, Zack and Cosmo arrived earlier than expected, and their journey began in the Neonatal intensive Care Unit (NICU), where they received incredible, specialised care as premature babies.
Just ten days into their stay, Zack developed a serious condition called Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC), which can affect the intestines of premature infants. NEC is a severe condition that inflames the bowel and can sometimes be treated with antibiotics, but in Zack’s case, emergency surgery was needed to save his life. We hoped things would settle after the surgery, but Zack’s condition worsened. He suffered multiple organ failure and was put on life support for several weeks as his care team fought tirelessly to keep him alive and bring him back to us.
Today, Zack’s stay in the hospital is ongoing, and the remarkable NICU team has been there for him, Cosmo, Will, and Imogen every step of the way, showing exceptional skill and compassion.
Seeing how much this care means to the family, I’m inspired to give back. In April 2025, I’ll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funds for King’s College Hospital Charity. This incredible team works tirelessly for families like ours, and every donation, big or small, will go directly to supporting their life-saving work.
If you’re able, please consider donating. Your support will make a real difference for families navigating the toughest of times and help ensure that King’s College Hospital can continue providing the best care for babies like Zack and Cosmo. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
