A Marathon for James’ Place
On 21st April I have committed to running the Stratford upon Avon Marathon and will be raising funds for James’ Place, a charity that has done amazing things for men’s’ mental health and suicide prevention.
Being that my godfather Nick Wentworth Stanley jointly founded the charity in memory of his son James whom I remember fondly as a child, it is particularly meaningful to me.
I am 20 and was prompted to take on this challenge when last year I lost a lovely friend whose sudden and tragic passing has had a major impact on myself and many of my friends at universities across the country. We have all been witness to the challenges that mental health brings, and it’ll be a cause that will sadly be as close to your heart as it is to mine.
James’ Place is a charity that holds hope for so many, and I really want to make a proper contribution towards its ongoing battle against the silent and often stigmatised issues surrounding mens’ mental health.
It has treated 1,800 men in suicidal crisis since opening its first home in 2018 and is currently aiming to raise £10 million to enable them to open new centres across the country, including one in Birmingham.
Any support towards fundraising for James’ Place will be beyond gratefully received: the website is also linked below so you can see some of the amazing work that they do.
Love Violet xx
