Story
On the 26th of June 2018, my friend’s baby Freddie was born, and from the photo, you can see he was absolutely perfect and totally adorable.
During a pregnancy scan, Freddie was diagnosed with a heart problem. Despite his perfect appearance, his little heart had a tough journey ahead. After he was born, he underwent multiple heart surgeries, endured life support machines, received blood transfusions, and even had partial heart transplants. Freddie showed incredible strength and resilience through it all.
For six weeks, my friend stayed in parent accommodation provided by the Brompton Fountain. This sanctuary allowed her to be close to Freddie, spending every precious moment with him
. They made memories together that she now holds close to her heart, memories that bring both tears and smiles.
Sadly, after six weeks of fighting valiantly, Freddie was too weak to continue his battle. On the 10th of August 2018, at just 6 weeks and 2 days old, Freddie peacefully went to sleep in his mother’s loving arms.
In honor of Freddie and in gratitude for the Brompton Foundation, We are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon with Kerry. The foundation provided essential support during the darkest and most challenging time of her life, and we want to give back so they can continue to help other families in their moments of need.
