Story
I am going to be running the Brighton and London marathons in April 2024 as part of Team Breathe, in memory of my wonderful Dad, Cliff, who we sadly lost to mesothelioma in November 2018.
I am not new to running - I was lucky enough to run for Team Breathe with my sister in 2022 but this time round I'm upping the ante and running two marathons in one month. This will be a HUGE challenge but when I first started thinking about it, I knew my Dad would have been the first person to tell me to go for it, cheering me on from the start. I was motivated to start running by him; he started his own running journey running around and around in circles on deck when out at sea with the Royal Navy. He was the one who always taught me to channel my inner 'Little Train that Could' when things got tough - 'I think I can, I think I can.' I can't wait to make him proud and raise as much money as I can so that no one has to suffer like he did.
Mesothelioma is an asbestos related cancer that affects the lungs, and I want to raise as much money as possible to find cures and treatments for these and other lung diseases so that no one has to go through what he did. I'm running The Brighton and London Marathons 2024 for Asthma + Lung UK - they're the only UK charity that fights for everyones right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs. Please give whatever you can to this brilliant cause.
Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UKs nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
