Story
On May 11th, 2025, Team Grizzly will take on the Great Bristol Run in loving memory of David Waring, our beloved father who left us far too soon on May 8th, 2024, after a brief but fierce battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dad lived by the motto, "If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly" – words that perfectly captured his larger-than-life spirit. A tireless volunteer for the Samaritans, an intrepid sailor who conquered the Fastnet race, and a passionate motorbike racer and enthusiast, he approached life with boundless energy and warmth. His kindness, love, and humor touched everyone around him, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.
As his family, we've come together as Team Grizzly to honour his memory and raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK. While Dad would probably find it amusing to see us running in his name, we know he'd be immensely proud of our efforts to make a difference.
Our goal is twofold: to celebrate the amazing man he was and to support the crucial work of Pancreatic Cancer UK. We run to acknowledge the profound impact he had on our lives and the void his absence has created. More importantly, we run in hope – hope that our efforts will contribute to a future where no family has to endure the pain of losing a loved one to this devastating disease.
Join us in remembering David Waring, and supporting this vital cause. Your donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to a world without pancreatic cancer. Together, let's embody the grizzly spirit that Dad lived by – fierce, determined, and unstoppable in the face of challenges.
Thank you for your support. Let's make every step count in his memory.
Thanks everyone
