Glasgow Kiltwalk 2025 · 26 April 2025 to 27 April 2025 ·
Two years on, and this time we are raising money for The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation by walking the Glasgow Kiltwalk!
What happened two years ago? I was sat in the weekend emergency clinic with my little sister, Helen. She had had a sinus infection for about a month, we thought after a couple of weeks it had got better, but then it got worse. So we went to the hospital to get it checked out.
Three days later she was admitted into the high dependency unit at the Queen Elizabeth hospital, diagnosed with Vasculitis. Vasculitis is a rare disease of the small blood vessels. The blood vessels in her throat and lungs had been bursting, filling her lungs with blood.
Helen being Helen, has made a remarkable recovery. After a couple of months she was out of hospital and on the road to getting better. Now she is back to work, has taken up gardening, and the doctor said she could run a marathon... maybe a future fundraiser!
It was during this time she was introduced to the Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation - a charity raising awareness of vasculitis, funding research and providing incredible support to people living with vasculitis. They have provided her and our family with information for living with the condition, and organised weekend retreats so that people like Helen can share stories and be part of a support network.
While I've been sat there feeling utterly useless, I have realised that the most useful thing I can do is help raise awareness and raise funds so that LCTF can keep up the fantastic work.
Please donate to this wonderful charity if you can! Thanks for your support :)
