Story
Its nearly November which means the time has come to get my sleeping bag ready and take myself over to Lords Cricket ground to join a group of inspiring business leaders and owners to spend a night out in the cold, to raise awareness and as much money as possible for the homeless.
Last year was my first CEO Sleepout and what an experience. Despite the freezing cold temperature, hard concrete floor and waking up every hour, hoping it was morning, it was one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had so far.
I’m almost ready to do it again and really would appreciate any donations to help raise as much money and awareness as possible to help those living homeless or in temporary accommodation. Last year, with your support, I managed to raise over £5,000 to the cause and together as a team, we pulled in an impressive £200,000.
To raise more awareness and understanding of why we need to work together to support this cause- here are some heart-breaking facts around homelessness in the UK-
271,000 people are recorded as homeless in England, including 123,000 children.
Four in five homeless people suffer from a mental health problems.
Someone sleeping rough is 9 times more likely to die by suicide than a member of the general public.
Rough sleepers are 17 times more likely than the general public to experience abuse.
Nearly 1 in 4 females sleeping rough have been sexually assaulted.
The average age of death was just 45 for men and 43 for women who were homeless.
Thank you all so much x
