This fundraiser is a way of saying some sort of collective “thank you” to the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.
My name is Victor Bates and I’m a veterinary surgeon who’s been working within Abercorn Veterinary Clinics since 1988 (though I now just work part time). Together with Braids Veterinary practice, Abercorn provides surgical services for the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home (EDCH).
The EDCH has done a fantastic job over the years of giving shelter to pets that find themselves for whatever reason without a home. Through care, love, hard work, attention to medical and surgical problems by a committed staff, these pets can then be found new homes and given that second chance at a happy and enriched life. Remarkably this year sees the 140th anniversary of the EDCH! That 140 years has obviously seen evolution from a very basic entity into today's established professionally managed organisation - but one that still relies on charitable support and giving, just as much as it ever did. That’s where you the reader come in! Many of you will know someone who has re-homed a dog or a cat from the EDCH, or you might even have re-homed one yourself. I’ve just given a home to “Mimi” a sweet little chihuahua cross who entered the home in early May. Mimi is my fourth “re-home” from the EDCH. Each one has been a source of pure joy to myself and my family. Many of my colleagues now also care for “re-homes”.
So please; if you can support this fundraiser, then just click to start the process. However small or large, your contribution will help the EDCH and most importantly help it to help those dogs and cats.
Thank you!
