Story

Thank you for visiting our page.

Myself and Izzy O'Keeffe are running the London Marathon on April 27th, 2025, as part of Team Sarcoma. We’re running in memory of my her brother, Phil O'Keeffe, who tragically passed away on January 11th, 2022. Our goal is to raise vital funds for Sarcoma UK, a national charity dedicated to funding research, supporting those affected by sarcoma, and campaigning for better treatments.

Phil was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma—a rare and aggressive cancer—in September 2020. He faced this challenge with incredible strength, enduring nine rounds of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre. Despite his courage and the relentless efforts of his medical team, a PET scan following his treatment showed the cancer had spread. Phil sought further treatments in both London and Dublin, but sadly, these were not successful.

In December 2021, Phil returned to Ireland to spend his final Christmas surrounded by family and friends. He passed away in January 2022 at the age of 28, just 16 months after his diagnosis.

Phil's extraordinary bravery, resilience, and optimism left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Despite every obstacle, he faced each day with the same positivity and warmth that defined him. Phil’s infectious smile and booming laughter brought joy to so many and will never be forgotten.

Sarcoma is a challenging cancer to diagnose and treat, developing in the bone and soft tissues. By supporting this cause, we can help change outcomes for others. Your donation to Sarcoma UK will fund essential research, keep the Support Line running for those in need, and raise awareness to improve care and treatments.

Thank you for your support and for ensuring that Phil’s memory continues to make a difference in the lives of others.

Please note all funds raised will go directly to the charity.

Vicky
