Brain tumours do not care if you are a daughter, a grandfather, or even a child. They do not discriminate and they can strike at any time. We have to fix this!

Story

10 years ago in 2014, I took part in my first charity event as part of a team that took on a swimathon, I was overweight and unfit so the event was a struggle for me and drove me to start a mission to change myself. The process was slow and the first few years saw me focus on weight loss.

In 2020 when covid hit I caught the exercise bug and became determined to build a stronger & fitter version of myself both physically AND mentally. I completed couch to 5k and at the end I promised myself that I would continue to evolve, deciding to complete at least one new challenge every year.

With lots of training, support from friends/family and a few hissy fits, I have now completed 7 challenges - covered miles, climbed a mountain and embraced swimming again. Where possible I have used these events as fundraisers and have managed to raise £1,300+ for some wonderful challenges along the way.

I joined Wickes during this journey in 2017, and genuinely enjoy working for a business where well being is given the focus it deserves and everyone has a safe space to be authentically themselves. I am a proud Mental Health First Aider and member of our Installations Feel at Home & Charity committees which has allowed me to continue to develop myself personally whilst also giving back to others.

Through this brilliant business I am incredibly grateful (but also terrified!) to have obtained a place on a charity challenge which will be the biggest & toughest one yet.

In September I will fly to Nepal and trek for 16 days, across 130km, to an altitude of 5,364m to reach Everest Base Camp.

This truly is a bucket list opportunity for me so I am self funding the cost of the trek. This means that every penny donated will go straight to the charity.

If you have made it this far through my life story then THANKYOU! I am already eternally grateful, any donations will mean the world to me.
