Story

John Fraser & Son has a proud history of raising money for local good causes but this year we are going to try something a little different.

As it is the 140th anniversary of our family business, staff and family members will take on a challenge to cycle 140 miles around some of the most beautiful scenery we have right on our doorstep to raise money for a charity that is close to our hearts, MFR Cash for Kids.

The countdown is on for Saturday 1st June, and we are hoping for fair weather and a tailwind all the way round! We can’t fail - MFR Cash for Kids will be relying on us!

Our 140-mile route will take us from John Fraser & Son, Chapel Street, Inverness, over The Kessock Bridge to North Kessock. From there we’ll cycle along the foreshore to Redcastle, on to Muir of Ord, Urray, Marybank, Contin, Garve, Loch Luichart, and Achnasheen, to that most iconic of viewpoints above Loch Maree in Glen Docherty.

Our tired legs will enjoy the run down to Kinlochewe, from where we’ll cycle through Torridon, Shieldaig, Tornapress, Lochcarron, and Achnashellach, then back to Achnasheen, from where we’ll retrace our tyre tracks home to North Kessock.

As if 140 miles wasn’t far enough, we’ll also be facing over 4,900 feet of ascent, which is more than the height of Ben Nevis!

We plan to have at least two cyclists on the road at all times and will complete the route in a relay with each cyclist completing a distance that is challenging to them individually.

We’d love it if you could help us to support MFR Cash for Kids, which in turn supports local children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, life-limiting illness, and those with additional support needs.

We know from helping out with MFR Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas Appeal, just what an incredible impact this charity has. Your donations will be fuel for our legs as we pedal our 140 miles. Thank you!
