Vets in the Community is a project set up in 2012. We use donations and grants to provide free basic veterinary care to the pets of homeless and vulnerably housed people in Nottingham. This includes free health checks, flea and worm treatment, vaccines, microchipping, and treatment of minor ailments.
We can also conduct basic diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound and ophthalmic examinations. We also distribute donated pet food, treats, blankets, and accessories such as collars, leads and coats. Whilst most of our patients are dogs and cats we also see the occasional rabbit, hamster or ferret!
We run weekly clinics out of our mobile trailer. These clinics are led by students from the Vet School, under the supervision of experienced, qualified members of staff.
All of this is only made possible by donations and support. Funds are vital to keep our trailer in pristine condition, and to ensure we have full equipment and medical supplies for each clinic as well as pet food, pet toys, leads, collars, bedding water bowls, harnesses and warm animal jackets to offer our clients and patients.
A £5 donation will worm a dog for half a year or provide flea treatment for a month.
A £10 donation will provide pain relief, ear and eye drops and antibiotics.
A £15 donation will allow us to microchip a pet - which is now a legal requirement of dogs in the UK!
We appreciate any and all support - your donations bring us one step closer to providing the best care we can for our beloved clients.
