Leila’s Lovely Locks
Last Christmas Leila lost her MawMaw in America to Cancer. All of her memories of her MawMaw are of her without hair or only slight peach- fuzz one gets after chemo.
Leila has always had long, golden locks but after this summer she decided she wanted to go short. I said to her, “you should donate it,” to which she replied, “what?!” I explained that, “you can donate your hair to make wigs for little girls who have Cancer.” Leila said, “little girls can get Cancer like MawMaw?”
Unfortunately, we had to have a difficult conversation about how Cancer is indiscriminate. It can choose anyone, any age, any race and gender. Then we sat together and looked at the website for ~ Little Princess Trust
Leila’s reaction was immediate –
“I want to give my hair for a little girl!”
Each donation gets blended with other donations to make 16 wigs. Despite the many donations of hair across the country, it still cost, on average, £700 to make just one wig for one little girl.
Let’s all cheer Leila on as her Rapunzel locks are cut to give a smile to at least one little girl. Please help us raise at least £700 to help Little Princess Trust pay to have it made.
