Story
The annual Varsity March is a 132 km walk between Oxford and Cambridge, completed in less than 48 hours without sleep! Walkers from both Cambridge University Rambling Club and Oxford University Walking Club take part. Many walkers do not plan to walk the full distance but instead turn out to support their friends for large chunks of it. This year, we set off from Oxford at 09:15 on Saturday morning and arrived back in Cambridge at 22:54 on Sunday evening.
The full distance was completed by: Tommy Roberts, Stephanie Smith, Dylan the Sheep
In addition, the following people walked substantial sections of it: Torben Berndt (100 km), Iona Kuhn (100 km), Gabriele Lukoseviciute (100 km), Saffron Covill (82 km), Kiarn Turner (69 km), Andy Bowery (68 km), Lisa Liebens (68 km), Alan Iwi (37 km), Balint Kovacs (37 km), Yige Sima (37 km), Huan Yang (33 km), Jing Yu (33 km), Sufen Zhu (33 km), Emily Rowland (21 km), Christopher Thomas (20 km)
(Distances do not include detours and walking to and from starting and leaving points, so the actual distance walked by individuals will be greater than that given above).
This year we are again raising money for the Gatehouse charity in Oxford and for Jimmy’s Cambridge. These charities carry out vital work among the homeless and poorly housed of Oxford and Cambridge. We encourage you to split your donation between the Jimmy's Cambridge (this page) and our page for the Gatehouse (https://www.justgiving.com/page/varsitymarch2024-gatehouse). Thank you very much for sponsoring us!
