Story
“The moment local legend and journalist Allan Crow twisted my arm (in the nicest, most guilt-inducing way possible), I knew I had to join Maggie's Jail or Bail. (Kidding 🙂- thank you Allan)
But seriously, I’ve been a big supporter of Maggie’s for years, especially after my mum passed from cancer and their services became my lifeline. So when the chance to raise money and awareness for this incredible charity popped up, I jumped. Maggie's is worth more than its weight in gold and I am delighted to do what I can to help.”
Maggie's has approached local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To their delight they agreed, and here we are today. All of the courageous jail birds have been charged with outrageous fictitious crimes and are now in cuffs and behind bars!
Bail has been set at £1,000 and now I have been sent down to contemplate my crimes and go about raising funds to pay my bail.
If myself and my 5 fellow prisoners can collectively raise £6000 for our bail, we will automatically trigger a further £6000 in matched funding from Smith Anderson group. Which would be enough to run the Maggie's Centre for a full week (£12,000)!
Having traded in my freedom for Maggie's the challenge I face is to muster all my powers of persuasion and call on the collective goodwill of my network to raise funds for Maggie's Cancer Centres. My freedom & reputation depend on it!
Jail or bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, but let's not forget the important reason behind the event: to raise funds to support people with cancer.
Thank you
