Story
Aortic Dissection Awareness started life as a small group of people who had suffered an aortic dissection and found themselves with inadequate information about their condition and a complete lack of knowledge of fellow sufferers. Survival rates were extremely low.
In the intervening years, this small group became an unincorporated association that has grown to have in excess of 700 members and became a CIO in April 2022.
For a number of years, we have led the organisation of the annual Aortic Dissection Day in the UK, which is held as close to 19th September each year and is awarded to an institution that is recognised by patients as doing excellent work in the field of aortic dissection.
That is the blurb about this amazing little charity. However I have a more personal interest as my husband suffered an aortic dissection during a routine operation in 2019.
As a result he sadly suffered an unexpected spinal stroke and is now a paraplegic.
It’s really important stuff to share as most people have never heard of aortic dissection yet it devastates many families.
The money I raise will really help raise awareness and save lives.
Please help.
