Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition - that means it affects your nerves. You get it when your immune system isn’t working properly. Your immune system normally protects you by fighting off infection, but in MS it attacks your nerves by mistake. Your nerves control lots of different parts of your body. That’s why you can get MS symptoms in many parts of your body. It’s also why everyone’s MS is different.
I successfully moved 4602 miles in 2023 for those that have been affected by MS including my cousin, who lives in Surrey, BC, Canada. The 4,602 miles represents the distance from my house to his. The target is double the highest annual mileage I had ever done.
I was behind target in June and not sure I could achieve anywhere near the miles required but I gave it everything I had including averaging 120 miles per week from October and in the end got to 4604 miles!
I was running at 5am and then again at 4.30pm on days I was working from home. I left myself alot to do but my philosophy is whatever it takes. And it took alot!!
I really want to make a difference to those affected by MS. As someone who loves being active and has a huge passion for running I cannot imagine not being able to do it. But those affected by MS have to make huge changes their lives as do their loved ones. There is currently no cure for MS but treatments available do help those affected to manage their condition. Hopefully the continued research will help to find a cure.
I hope that if you are able to you can make a donation by the end of 31st Jan 2024.
Thank You.
