HRFC & Friends IOW Bike Ride for School of Hard Knocks · 13 June 2025

School of Hard Knocks runs courses that use sport to tackle issues surrounding unemployment, antisocial behaviour, crime and health. We teach responsibility, motivation, teamwork, respect and discipline - all of which allow individuals to take responsibility for their actions and context.

Story

Please see our fundraiser in support of The School of Hard Knocks as the official charity of Havant RFC for the 2024/2025 season. This will involve a team bike ride departing from Havant RFC across to the Isle of Wight. The aim is to complete an anti clockwise circuit of the island on day one, stay overnight and reverse the route on day two. The event will culminate at the evening’s fundraising afterparty with food, bar, live music and all forms of appropriate Tom Foolery, revelry and high jinks in the name of raising as much money as possible.

School of Hard Knocks works with young people aged 11 - 16 in secondary schools throughout the UK. The lived experiences of our beneficiaries are varied, some of our participants may be homeless or living in extreme poverty, and others may be victims of exploitation or abuse. There is no defining characteristic of an SOHK participant, but they all live in complex and challenging circumstances. We aim to enable our participants to find purpose and meaning in their lives and to give them the tools they need to cope with their experiences.
