Umar Shariff is running the London Marathon 2025 for Mencap

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I am very excited and privileged to be running the London Marathon on April 27th 2025 for Mencap, a fantastic charity who support people with learning disabilities.
Sadly, people with a learning disability have long been - and continue to be - discriminated against, and disproportionately affected by societal stigma, a lack of understanding, and increasingly deep cuts to government funding and social care.
My aim, by running the London Marathon for Mencap is to make a real difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities.
Supporting Mencap can be so impactful, by....:
- Advocating for Equality: Mencap works to promote equality and inclusion for people with learning disabilities, ensuring they have the same opportunities and rights as everyone else.
- Supporting Vital Services: The funds you raise go directly towards Mencap’s services, such as providing support for individuals and families, running community programs, and offering education and employment opportunities. These services can significantly improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities.
- Raising Awareness: Running the London Marathon brings attention to Mencap’s mission, which can encourage more people to get involved and support the cause. It’s a highly visible platform to champion the rights and needs of people with learning disabilities.
- Empowerment through Sports: Mencap encourages people with learning disabilities to participate in sports and physical activities, promoting fitness, social inclusion, and confidence.
Supporting Mencap will go a long way to trying to help make the world more inclusive and accessible for EVERYONE
