Team UFD Tech is returning back to its roots this charity stream season by hosting a 6 day 21 hour livestream in studio. Based in Pittsburgh at the new UFD Media headquarters, join Brett and team as they stream, game, giveaway and laugh their way to raising funds for SynGAP Research Fund. This year’s stream will feature UFD Tech OGs Reece and Catlin who will be making the trek from South Africa.

A community day will be held at Rezzanine Esports in Bridgeville on September 26th from 1PM to 9PM. Audience members are welcome to join the UFD Tech team for giveaways, PC builds and gaming in person. If you plan to attend, please RSVP here.

6 days and 21 hours?

Yes! The genetic address for SYNGAP1 is 6.21 as the SYNGAP gene is located on the 6th chromosome at the 21st locus. Because Brett’s youngest son, Emmitt, has a single letter mutation in this gene, he is only able to produce half of the SYNGAP protein needed for typical neurodevelopment. He and the 1400+ other patients around the world suffer from symptoms like intractable epilepsy, intellectual disability, global developmental delay, aggressive behaviors, and are often non or minimally verbal.

Since Emmitt’s diagnosis in 2019, UFD Tech has worked with the tech community and Syngap Research Fund to raise over $500,000 for rare disease research. Brett’s son is currently using a repurposed drug that is a result of some of the research that has taken place up to this point. Because of this drug, is experiencing the best seizure and severe behavior relief of his entire life. This is a direct testament to the work of SynGAP Research Fund, the world-class scientists it works with, and the families who are moving mountains to make a better future for their loved ones.

Importantly, the story above wouldn’t have been possible without you-the UFD Tech community! Help us to keep making life-changing breakthroughs for SYNGAP1-Related Disorders that will benefit patients and their families for years to come. See you on September 23rd!
