Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.

For those that know me, many will attest to me not being a runner given the physical specimen that I am, so taking on a marathon challenge of running three marathons (at minimum) in a single year is not just a test of endurance; it’s a way to raise awareness and funds for Brain Tumour Research. Each mile run is dedicated to those affected by brain tumours, shining a light on the urgent need for research and support.

Conor’s Story

I am reaching out to share the story of our beloved son, Conor, a courageous 20-year-old who has faced unimaginable challenges. After bravely battling leukaemia on four separate occasions since the age of five, he now faces a new enemy: A grade 4 Glioblastoma – a formidable brain tumour that requires urgent attention and research.

This aggressive brain cancer has brought a wave of uncertainty, with currently no cure, his condition is life limiting with the average timeframe of survival at 15 months and the 5 year prognosis less than 4%.

Conor is currently undergoing treatment, which includes surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. These treatments are not only physically demanding for him but tough on all families going through a similar diagnosis.

Why This Cause Matters

Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer, and we believe that advancing research is crucial for not only Conor's fight but also for countless others affected by this disease. By donating, you will contribute directly to vital research efforts that aim to find better treatments and ultimately a cure.

How Your Support Can Make a Difference

Your donation will fund:

- Groundbreaking research initiatives focused on Brain Tumours

- Clinical trials that explore new therapies and treatment options

- Support for families impacted by brain tumours

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help make a significant impact in the world of brain tumour research. Together, we can honour Conor's journey and contribute to a future where fewer families have to face this devastating diagnosis.
