Trekkers UK Climb Pen Y Fan for Black Minds Matter UK

Trekkers UK Hike Pen Y Fan · 18 May 2025
Trekkers UK is a grassroots community organisation dedicated to improving the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of Black and other global majority individuals through nature connection and outdoor adventure. Grounded in the Five Ways to Wellness, Connect with and give to others, Be Active, Take Notice, and Keep Learning, we create safe and inclusive spaces for people from inner-city areas to access and experience the healing power of nature. By breaking down barriers to outdoor participation, we not only promote diversity but also foster confidence, resilience, and provide culturally sensitive, nature-based therapeutic solutions. We are reshaping the conversations around mental health and the great outdoors.
The theme for Mental Health Awareness week 2025 is 'Community' and were bringing our community to new heights...Literally! We’re raising money for Black Minds Matter UK because their vision aligns deeply with our own: a community where Black people can readily access free, culturally appropriate mental health support, recover fully from mental illness, and thrive. Mental health support should be accessible to all, but Black communities continue to face systemic inequalities and lack of representation in mental health services. Black Minds Matter UK is helping to close that gap by providing free therapy by Black therapists for Black individuals.
We’re also raising funds for Mind, one of the UK’s leading mental health charities, whose work has touched millions of lives. Mind provides vital resources, advocacy, and support for anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Their commitment to breaking the stigma around mental health and fighting for better services and rights makes them a crucial ally in the broader mental health landscape.

At Trekkers UK, we witness firsthand the transformative impact that safe, affirming spaces and connection to nature can have on mental wellbeing. But we also know that outdoor connection is only one piece of the puzzle. We see nature as a powerful tool for healing, but we also know it must be part of a wider, well-supported mental health system. By fundraising for both Black Minds Matter UK and Mind, we are supporting a future where everyone regardless of race or background, can access the mental health support they need and deserve.
