Story

I am a blind man who writes a blog

https://www.facebook.com/travellingblind/

in the hope of showing people that being blind is not the end of life but the start of something new and exciting. It is also informative and, if I say so myself, often very funny.

To date we have raised £26427 for Guide Dogs and this year we hope to raise at least another £15000. To help raise this I am walking 300 miles along the Trans Pennine Trail in September.

I don't need a guide dog myself but I'd hate to think that I did need one but none were available so I'll be taking on several challenges during the year and I am open to suggestions.

In 2022 I became the first blind man to walk the Wolds Way, 79 miles in 7 days with 11 terrific volunteer guides. In 2023 I was the first blind man to walk the Cleveland Way, 109 miles over 12 days with 18 amazing volunteer guides.

Last year I did the whole North East section of the King Charles III England Coast Path from the Scotland border to Bridlington, East Yorkshire. 245 miles in 21 days with the help of 47 fantastic volunteer guides.

I am also available to talk to groups, clubs etc in return for funds for Guide Dogs.

We have been lucky enough to have raised sufficient funds to name five Guide Dog puppies so far (Skye, Lewis, Barney, Harris and Islay) and aim to name at least three more this year. Please help us achieve this in any way you can.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
