Story
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read our story and donating.
Both my son and youngest daughter have a rare blood disorder called Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency, which they require blood transfusions every 4 weeks to enable them to have the best quality of life as it is a life long condition. When our son was diagnosed at 10 months old we had never heard of the condition or even knew that we were both carriers as our eldest daughter was healthy in every way. Our youngest daughter was diagnosed at 3 months old.
This rare blood condition is that rare that not every doctor, nurse etc are aware of it. So, when an opportunity arises to raise money to help the children at the hospital we do all we can to help. My eldest daughter, mother in law and I are going down the zip wire at Hangloose in Bluewater.
The money raised through our Lollipop Fund helps support Willow Ward (Children's Ward) at Darent Valley Hospital, as well as Paediatric services across Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust.
