When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.
Our family life changed on that August evening 2023 when I came home to my husband having a stroke. The response from the First Responders, Paramedics and Fire Service were amazing, luckily we were in the timeframe for him to have the clot busting medication when they transferred him to the hospital. The efficiency of all the staff was unbelievable that night and throughout the timeframe when transferred to the ward. His stroke was a severe one and sadly his right side and speech has been affected. With the care and encouragement from all at Lavant Ward, Physiotherapist, Donald Wilson Rehabilitation and now Tenchley Manor he has responded and is much more himself even though he still requires 24 hour Nursing Care from amazing staff at the home. There are days where he has moments and would love nothing more than to be home doing the things he has done before that fateful day, but we are just thankful of his improvement and realise we still have a long road ahead of us, one which no one knows how long it will be or if the movement and speech will ever return.
I feel doing this and donating into a cause that is very close to our families heart we are giving something back to help support people who go through this life changing event.
We thank you for your kind donation and helping support The Stroke Association.
