Story
As some of you may know, my sister Nicola Ferdinand is living with seven benign meningiomas. She underwent radiotherapy treatment on one of the meningiomas due to the impact it was having, as a result the vision in her left eye is impaired.
I am so proud with how she copes with her situation and continues to be an inspiration to me.
We both believe that it is so important that more research is done to better understand how all types of brain tumours form and what we can do to stop them and to treat them.
Therefore, my sister and I are taking on this brand-new challenge for Brain Tumour Research and will complete a distance of 200k in May to raise vital funds and awareness to help find a cure for brain tumours.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this.
They are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
