In 2023 Paul had a double whammy of a kidney tumour and prostate cancer. There were a lot of harrowing times where Paul needed to talk to someone about his worries. This is where the Macmillan nurses were amazing. They were extremely supportive and were able to contact other healthcare professionals on his behalf, when needed.

When Adam sent round the email at work to see who would like to take part in the Mighty Hike, I straight away replied ‘Yes’ as I wanted to be able to give something back and support the Macmillan nurses. It was only afterwards I started to worry about the 14.4 miles we were going to walk! What have I done! My only comfort is that all my colleagues are younger than me and as we work as a team they can all take a turn in giving me a piggy back when required.

In June 2024, we are taking on a Mighty Hike in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales National Park to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.

As a team we have pledged to raise £250 each and would appreciate any support in reaching this. By fundraising our pledge, We could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for twenty days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.
