Story
Mental Health Awareness Week takes place 13th - 19th May. The theme this year is "Movement: Moving more for our mental health". Being active is important for our mental health. But so many of us struggle to get enough exercise. We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines. Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts!
We are kick starting the week by organising a big Townsend Family Fun Run and would like as many people in our school community to take part as possible.
The fun run will take place on Saturday 11th May at 2pm and will start on the school field behind the Discovery Centre.
It's a 2K route all on grass and people are welcome to run, walk or jog. The event won't be timed it's purely for fun.
We are raising money for one of our school charities: Youth Talk. They are a fantastic local charity that supports many of our students.

Youth Talk’s mission is to provide the best, possible mental health support to young people in St Albans and the surrounding areas. It's important for there to be a safe, trustworthy, calm and professional environment for young people to feel comfortable in and share whatever is on their mind, Youth Talk can offer this.
Thanks to your donations and support of my fundraising – Youth Talk can continue to provide local young people with one-to-one counselling support during a real time of need.
