🌟 Help Us Empower Youth Through Sport: Join Our Tough Mudder Challenge! 🌟
Josh was a good friend of my wife Katie, and their friendship lasted from their school days into adulthood. I also had the pleasure of knowing Josh, through the multiple times he fixed my surfboard . However, tragically, Josh lost his battle with mental health and took his own life in 2020.
Josh's parents, inspired by their son's passion, donated his surfboards to the South African charity Surfers Not Street Children 🏄🏼. But they wanted to do more locally. This desire sparked the creation of Phrenix, a charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged children in the South West access sports and all the benefits that come with it.
Phrenix collaborates with local authorities to identify kids who can benefit the most. They provide support for coaching, after-school sports clubs, equipment, and tournament fees—removing barriers that keep kids from enjoying sports.
To honour Josh’s memory and raise funds, Ross Harrison, Brian Kearns, and I are taking on the Tough Mudder 15k South West 🏃🏽
This gruelling challenge involves conquering over 20 obstacles spread across 15 kilometres of the Gloucester countryside.
💪 We need your support! 💪 Every donation brings us closer to giving more kids the chance to participate in sports, gain confidence, and build a brighter future. Join us in making a difference!

Together, we can turn a tragic loss into one of hope and opportunity for disadvantaged children.
Keith Dimery, Josh’s father, adds:
Research suggests that physical activity can boost self-esteem and reduce depression and anxiety in children. That said, accessing extra-curricular sporting activities isn’t a level playing field. Children from the poorest backgrounds are three times more likely to not take part in any extra-curricular activity compared to those from the richest families. “Phrenix aim enrich the lives of children by helping provide the means for them to enjoy a sport or activity that they otherwise would not be able to take part in.
