Story

Many thanks for taking the time to consider supporting me in my fundraising efforts to support an organisation that makes a valuable contribution to the young people of the world.

Launched in 1956, and operating in more than 130 countries and territories around the world, The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is as relevant today as when it first started. The Award has given millions of young people around the world a route to explore and develop the skills to thrive, empowering them to take control of their future. As an internationally recognised accreditation, it provides young people with the opportunity to harness the skills and qualities that will help them throughout their lives.

I am the Chair of the Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Bulgaria.

Your donation will help support the growth of the Award both 1) Specifically in Bulgaria and 2) around the world. So that many more young people have the opportunity to take part and discover their purpose, passion, and place in the world.

Our goal is to reach even more young people from diverse backgrounds and equip them as individuals to discover the infinite potential within themselves, helping them to become #WORLDREADY.

OCTOBER

08/10 - Completed the Sofia 10km alongside more than 20 of my colleagues from Ingram Micro. On warm sunny day it was great to see the wonderful city with all its colour and lots of happy faces. Next year I plan to run the Sofia Half Marathon, fitness permitting.

14/10 - 15/10 - Spent the weekend in the Rila Mountains as part of the 'Bulgarian 56 Peaks Challenge'. Managed to reach our 20th of the 56. Good training for the Marathon. https://www.platformata.bg/bg/?option=com_jgive&view=campaign&layout=single&cid=1586&Itemid=0

19/10 – Visited the London offices of the DOE International Award to discuss my plans for the London Marathon.

NOVEMBER

08/11 – Attended the DOE Quiz hosted by the BBBA and DOE at the British residency. Great fundraiser and awareness event.

18/11 – 20/11 – Attended the 30th Anniversary celebrations of the Netherlands DOE International Award. This visited culminated in a best practice sharing workshop with leaders from across the European Region. Took the opportunity to run in some lovely woods surrounding the location.

27/11 – Attended the Bronze Award Ceremony at Sofia University involving more than 120 recipients in the famous location of the Ceremonial Hall. This was a truly memorable event and the location was befitting the occasion.

DECEMBER

14/12 – Launched / Publicised my fundraising event on the Niki Kanchev Darik Radio show.

23/12 – participated in my first 5km park run back in the UK. This is the single biggest running event hosted weekly throughout the world on a Saturday at 9am.
