Story

Tony is fundraising for Jacob's Join a Special Named Fund at CCLG by running in the Montane Lakeland 50 mile.

At the end of the August I will celebrate having been 2 years in remission from colon cancer. I’m one of the lucky ones so I’m going to attempt the Lakeland 50 mile run again in July in aid of a cancer charity.

Cancer at my age is no fun but for a young child and the parents of that child it is something that just should not have to be faced. As I did last year I am once again going to raise funds for Jacobs Join which is a named fund that supports the Childhood Cancer and Leukaemia Group. It is in memory of Jacob a brave boy who sadly at just 16 months old was found to have rhabdomyosarcoma, he had numerous treatments including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he was always smiling but passed away at just 3 years and 1 month.

I have been training hard since my last attempt which was less than a year after chemotherapy when I got to the last checkpoint at 46.5 miles. This year I’ve continued to get better and I will get to the end!

Please, please, if you can afford to sponsor me.

I started training before Christmas putting in several hundred miles on my feet in last few weeks alone and over the next few weeks will put in at least 400 more. Whatever amount you can put in large or small will help support children with this horrible cancer and one day hopefully find a cure.

Thank you!
