This year I have decided to raise money for the Royal Air Force Association. They provide amazing support for serving personnel, veterans (like myself) and their families.

RAFA have branches around the UK and overseas, and being a member of the 1366 Armourers Branch I have seen first-hand the care and support they provide to those in need. Everything from a friendly ear to more practical support and advice, including welfare boxes at Christmas for those serving overseas away from their loved ones.

Their work is vital and much needed, not only now but also for the future. When you join the RAF you dedicate yourself to serve your country. RAFA dedicate themselves to serving those who have made that commitment.

My challenge spans 2024. I am planning to run 2000 miles between the 1st January and 31st December 2024. To give me something to aim for I have entered a number of events to keep me motivated and fly the flag. They are:

Great North 10K - 7th July

Great North Run, the world's biggest half marathon (13 miles) - 8th September

Rat Race The Wall - an ultra marathon from Carlisle to Gateshead, approx 70 miles in 26 hours (or less) - 15th June

I completed the Great North run last year, my only competitive running event ever. So follow me every mile. It’s not going to be easy, but with your support I will make it!
