Story

Thank you everybody for donating to this charity

I ran London in 4 hrs 15 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.

Yesterday I visited Freya and left my medal on her cot !

On my 60 th birthday I will be running the London Marathon as I was lucky enough to get a ballot place

This will be my fourth London and after breaking my back last August I thought my marathon days were over

However, I now have my new granddaughter Freya who was born on 7 th February at James Cook Hospital weight 1lb 6oz, 16 weeks early

Running has always been a hobby over the past 20 years and I am not known for fundraising myself however Freya will be in JC for a few more months hopefully and the care she and other neonates receive is exceptional. Not only do the Drs and nurses look after the babies, they look after the families, offering support and care at all hours of day or night. They are all wonderful and Freya would not be here without them

Any donation would be gratefully received. Thank you

The majority of the 5,600 babies who are born in our trust every year are well and can go home relatively quickly with no problems. Some however, are born early or sick and we need the services of our neonatal department.

The Neonatal Unit at James Cook Hospital includes intensive care and high dependency facilities and is where we care for sick and premature infants. We have ten intensive care/high dependency cots and a number of special care cots and carry out various forms of respiratory support and other intensive therapies including infant cooling.

We have around 400 admissions each year, so it is a busy unit.

Donations to the Neonatal Unit support the many babies and their families who come to our hospital for treatment and care, making their experience the best it possibly can be.

Donations also help us pay for the little things that make a big difference to our babies and their families.
