Welcome to Claire House's 2025 London Marathon page!

Story

20th April Update - unfortunately due to injuries I have had to defer my London Marathon place until 2026. However I am pleased to confirm a place at the Chester Marathon on 5th October 2025! So all of your kind donations will still go to the incredible Claire House charity.

Imagine hearing the worst possible news as a parent - that your child is seriously ill and not expected to live to be an adult.

Claire House helps parents create wonderful experiences for their children and bring back a sense of normality to family life. By providing specialist nursing care and emotional support, Claire House helps families smile again when life couldn’t get any tougher.

Even the thought of this frightens the life out of me and parents face this reality on a daily basis.

This is why I have chosen to fund-raise for this incredible charity by running the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April.

I have had my own personal journey over the last couple of years, not just physically, but also mentally and whilst I want to complete the Marathon for the personal achievement, being able to fund raise for Claire's House at the same time is something I am really grateful to be able to do.

I have never ran more than a half marathon (which was over 10 years ago) and this time last year I was only just able to start running again following a trapped nerve at the end of 2023. To add to this, I had three knee ops (2 full ACL reconstructions) a few years ago which makes running itself tough. So I don't think my body is going to thank me for this!

I don't find running easy at all, in fact I find it very tough physically and have to rely on mental strength to get me through most runs I do. I have only just started training in January so not the best prep, but I am determined to not only finish the marathon but am aiming for a sub 4 hour time (as close to 3.5 hours as possible). After a tough couple of years, it will be great to feel such personal achievement and pride.

Regardless of my story, or whether you even have a clue who I am, I would kindly ask/urge you to donate to this great cause, so we can help them continue to provide the amazing service and support for those families who really do need it the most.

Thank you to everyone who donates!
