Story

In September 2024 I will be hoping to climb Hellvelyn 9.2 times in 48 hours: the equivalent height of climbing Mt Everest! (Part of the Apex Everest Challenge- for anyone wanting to be nosey).

Has Tom lost his marbles? Yes probably

Will he actually be able to do it: highly unlikely

But it’s a great excuse to get as fit as possible in the beautiful British outdoors in the cold and rain.

And most importantly it can help with raising some money for the Adam Redfern Memorial Fund.

About the Fund

The fund is in memory of much-loved DMU colleague, Journalism alumnus and fitness enthusiast, Adam Redfern, who died suddenly of a heart attack while out jogging in March 2021, aged 28.

Donations will enable ambitious students to pursue Adams passions and will help to boost their career opportunities with the support of the university through dedicated scholarships, bursaries and monetary awards.

It is also supporting the “Heartsafe Campus” initiative that will be launching in September 2024- designed to make Leicester one of the safest locations in Britain, through training students in essential cardiac emergency response and AED provision.
