Story

At the beginning of 2024 I spent 33 days in hospital. I was diagnosed with SLE lupus and a rare blood disorder called TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Purpura). While lupus may be familiar to many, TTP affects only 6-10 people per million and is considered a true medical emergency, causing clots to form in small blood vessels throughout the body.

While in hospital I set myself the challenge of running the 2025 Derby 10K, with some of the team at Ickonic joining me, just as we did in 2022.

Primarily this is a personal challenge, but I wanted to take the opportunity and try to raise some money for TTP Network, a patient-led organisation that provides support, advocacy and information to patients and their families, whilst also raising awareness.
