Story
My brother Michael passed away on 23rd July 2019 to cancer. His end of life care was at the Arthur Rank hospice in Cambridge and his ashes were scattered in places important to Michael. One of which is Malham Tarn in Yorkshire. So to honour Michael, I have decided to take on the somewhat, difficult challenge of cycling from the Hospice in Cambridge to Malham, in one day. My good friends Rich and Lee will be doing the whole cycle with me as well.
The distance is 227 miles, so quite a long way! The chosen day of the ride is 22nd July. This means I arrive at Malham the day before the anniversary of when we lost Michael.
As many of you know I have done a number of charity rides including London to Paris and the original Cycle of Michael, which saw me and a number of willing volunteers cycling to all the places Michael lived. And whilst I am a keen cyclist, this time around the challenge of 226 miles in one day is a tough one!
Michael achieved a significant amount of fundraising, and it is important to keep this going. This time around I have chosen to raise money for the Arthur Rank hospice charity. Whilst Michael only spent a short amount of time there, the hospice provided a dignified end of life care. In these tough financial periods, fundraising can help the hospice to continue providing this important care.
If you are able to make a donation, it is greatly appreciated. I will be sharing updates on the training towards the event
Much love
