Samaritans helped me through a mental health crisis during Christmas 2021 and I honestly don't know what I would have done without them.

They are always here for us, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but they need our support to keep running. Just £5 can fund a phone call which could save someone's life. Someone like my best friend Steven who took his own life 25 years ago when mental health just wasn’t a thing, let alone something we talked openly about.

I have ADHD and probably ASD too. I have suffered with anxiety and depression throughout most of my adult life.

I discovered running when recovering from an ACL operation and, after an initial period of disliking it immensely, I started to tolerate it and then finally fall in love with it. This epic challenge will see me running on sand, mud, tarmac, trails and will involve running through the night into the next day.

Depression, anxiety, psychosis, suicide, these things don’t just happen to other people, they can happen to anyone. Any age, any red, race or religion, whether you are rich and successful or poor and living on hard times.

We need to halt the slide, we are LOSING SOMEONE EVERY 90 MINUTES TO SUICIDE.

Help me to help Samaritans to help these people. I have been one of them and will never forget the support they gave me when I was in the most indescribable place mentally.
