Fundraising for British Heart Foundation
Myself and a team of 20 colleagues from the Wirtgen Group are hiking the National 3 Peaks challenge (Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon) on 18-19 May 2024 to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
For myself this is a huge event. My Son Hugo Louis was born in November 2018 premature and diagnosed with a very rare Heart and lung condition.
This is an extremely rare congenital heart condition that was not identified during pregnancy and only discovered shortly after he was born. Whilst Hugo is now 5 years old and has recently started school, enjoying all the activities 5 years like to do he is still under the care of Alder Hey Childrens Hospital, who are fantastic.
However I feel that the British Heart Foundation is a fantastic choice for our chosen charity this year and together with my colleagues would like to make a huge difference by supporting the BHF to raise funds to further support their research for a charity that is very close to my family's heart.
A little information about the British Heart Foundation... the BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.
£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so any donations would be gratefully received.
