Story

There are almost 14 million disabled people in the UK, that’s one in five of us. Life is harder when you’re disabled. You're twice as likely to be unemployed, getting care is a struggle and the cost of living is higher.

Deloitte UK is proud to be supporting Scope, to help create a fairer society and to end disability inequality. I know many of the folks at Scope well, and I see the fantastic work they do, 365 days a year, for people with disabilities right across the UK. Please support them as we embark on our bid to swim to France!

How does a Channel relay swim work? There are six of us in the team. We swim hour-long stints in rotation (no wetsuits) until we reach France. If this weather holds we are likely to swim from Samphire Hoe near Folkestone at around 2.30am on Fri. I will try to post a link so you can track the boat as we make the crossing. The actual route will likely exceed 32 miles thanks to the tides, and 14-16 hours is likely if we can make it across. The guys have been training for months and we have a good chance, but not all teams succeed.... 'Bon chance' as they say :-)
